Structured routes and reliable crews

Visit schedules set and communicated in advance

The same team members on your property wherever possible

Our 54 unit building, located in central Vancouver, has a large garden at the entrance and Condo gardens on three sides. Our building recently hired Hyland Landscapes and unlike the past three Garden contractors, they show up each week and do what they've agreed to do. The front gardens have been very well kept and they come twice a year to neatly trim the back hedges. Brian also takes time to talk to owners and gives advice on how to care for the trees and shrubs. Brian and his crew recently relocated several small trees in my garden and I'm very happy with the result. His staff are a pleasure to deal with!

Clear standards for cleanliness after every visit

Attention to visibility, access, and trip hazards

WSBC-compliant practices and fully insured operations (including snow and ice removal)

One primary contact for scheduling and questions

Straightforward contracts outlining what is included and what is not

Site notes and recommendations when issues are spotted early

For many properties, Hyland is the design-build contractor first, then the long-term maintenance partner. That continuity means:

We understand the intent behind the original design

Planting and hardscapes are maintained as they were meant to function

Issues can be addressed with both aesthetics and durability in mind

I’m part of a strata down in the RiverWalk area of Vancouver. We have been with Hyland for 2 years now. At the beginning you never know what you’re going to get when hiring a new landscaping company for a large townhouse complex. We have had good and bad ones. Hyland was originally selected because of their competitive pricing and sales rep Laura, who was very genuine, knowledgeable, and seemed to care about the challenges we faced getting our complex looking better. 2 years later, we couldn’t be happier. Hyland is the epitome of quality work and customer service. Landscaper Lukas, John, and Jonas have answered every request we’ve made. When left alone, they do meticulous work as if it were their own yard. They are reliable and open to feedback without hesitation. Laura understands our vision and worked hard to put it into motion with numerous special projects, keeping in mind our budget constraints. I would highly recommend Hyland as your next landscaping company. I'm looking forward to keeping Hyland as our service provider for years to come.

We regularly complete design-build and maintenance projects for second homes and recreational properties. Communication is structured so decisions can be made remotely, using detailed plans, 3D visuals, and regular updates from the team.

Some elements — pools, certain structures, retaining walls, or significant grading — may require permits or engineering. We help identify:

  • What the municipality will likely require
  • When to involve structural or civil professionals
  • How permitting affects the timeline

We can coordinate with a broader project team, or lead the landscape-specific parts of the process.

Yes. If drawings already exist from another designer or architect, we can:

  • Review the plans for constructability and budget alignment
  • Offer feedback or refinements if needed
  • Provide a detailed proposal for landscape construction

Many clients still bring our design team in for adjustments, so design, construction, and maintenance stay aligned.

Timelines depend on scope and season. A typical design-build project follows this pattern:

  • Design: 4–10 weeks for site analysis, concepts, revisions, and final plans
  • Permitting, when required: varies by municipality
  • Construction: 4–16+ weeks depending on size and complexity

A clearer schedule comes once design and scope are defined.

For a comprehensive landscape design and construction project — design, 3D renderings, hardscaping, structures, and planting — most Vancouver homeowners we work with start around $100,000, and larger or more complex outdoor living spaces often go beyond that.

If the range is unclear, we can talk through typical budgets in an initial consultation.

Most strata and commercial clients choose seasonal contracts. Each agreement typically defines:

  • Service areas and maps
  • Trigger depths for plowing and shovelling
  • When salting or de-icing is applied
  • Response time windows and return visits during ongoing storms
  • Pricing structure (seasonal retainer, per-event, or hybrid)

Residential clients can book per-visit services or seasonal packages, depending on property size and preferences.

During active snow events or prolonged freezing periods, crews operate extended and overnight hours to keep properties safe and accessible. Specific coverage windows and priority times are set in the contract.

Each visit follows the written scope in the proposal — usually a mix of plowing, hand clearing, and ice control on agreed surfaces, with follow-up when conditions warrant.

We balance effective ice control with the landscape and with pets, choosing eco-conscious de-icing products so surfaces stay safe and walkable.

Depending on the site, we use a mix of trucks, plows, and hand crews to clear snow from vehicle and pedestrian areas. Where snow storage is limited or visibility is a concern, we can coordinate snow relocation or hauling off-site.

Yes. Hyland carries coverage appropriate to snow and ice operations, including liability for plows, blowers, and salters on the property, alongside WSBC coverage for crews. The contract confirms the details.

Yes. Strata, commercial, and institutional clients often keep one relationship for winter and year-round landscape maintenance, which simplifies scheduling and keeps a crew that already knows the site.

Use the application form on this page, or open a specific role and apply there. Include a resume and a short note about what you're looking for. We'll review your information and reach out if there's a potential match.

A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are strongly preferred for most roles, and required for leadership and mobile positions. Some crew roles may be accessible by transit depending on the location and start times.

Details vary by position, but may include competitive wages, overtime opportunities, extended health benefits, training support, and consistent scheduling. Specific benefits for each role are outlined in the individual job posting.

Many of our landscaping jobs in Vancouver BC are year-round, especially on the maintenance side and in core construction roles. Some positions are seasonal or peak-season focused, with the option to add winter hours through snow and ice operations.

New team members receive onboarding, safety training, and hands-on guidance from experienced leads. As you grow, we support additional training, certifications, and cross-training between construction, maintenance, and winter work as appropriate.

Not for every role. For entry-level labourer and some landscape maintenance crew jobs, we're comfortable training the right person who is reliable, physically capable, and eager to learn. Foreperson, lead, and specialized positions do require relevant experience.

For strata, commercial, and institutional clients, we typically work under annual or multi-year contracts with defined service levels. Residential clients can choose seasonal contracts or recurring services, depending on property size and needs.

Visit frequency is tailored to each site:

  • Weekly or bi-weekly visits for strata and commercial grounds
  • Weekly or bi-weekly for larger residential estates
  • Monthly visits for lower-intensity sites
  • Custom schedules for complex strata and commercial property grounds maintenance

Yes. Hyland is fully insured for residential, strata, commercial, and institutional work, including snow and ice removal, with WSBC-compliant crews. Site-specific safety expectations are confirmed during onboarding and in your contract, so residents and visitors can move through the property with confidence.

We start with:

  • A review of your current contract and pain points
  • A site walkthrough to assess conditions and expectations
  • A proposed scope and transition timing

Where possible, we align our start date with the end of your current agreement to keep things seamless for residents and stakeholders.

Most annual contracts begin in early spring, ahead of the main growing season. For snow and ice services, contracts are typically finalized before fall. That said, we can onboard properties at any time of year and adjust services accordingly.
